I completely missed November. So I'm not even going to attempt to recap. I will mention that the Fall Retreat was freakin' awesome, but besides that the entirety of this entry will be much more in the present.
Okay so Saturday me Chris, Christian, and Josh (Loch Ness) went and saw Harry Potter. It was awesome, 'nough said. Then Josh slept over and came to church with us today. Wednesday is my birthday so I'm pretty excited. Whoa man I'm like gonna be 15, that's pretty wack. Anyway you should definitely buy me a present, unless I don't know you cause that'd be just kinda weird...

surprisingly, I've run outta things to say. I just got back from... well a lot a places. Lemme start from the beginning. Some time last week Christian tells me that they're going to Pensacola over the weekend for his sister's traveling soccer team and that he's allowed to invite a friend. Guess who that is. Right, well I had in mind a weekend of skimboarding, because that's basically what Christian told me. What I found out (already in the van leaving Tallahassee) was that where Mallory was playing was no where near the beach, but on the exact opposite side of town, and we weren't even staying in Pensacola, but at their grandparents house an hour away. So the chances of us even seeing the beach were pretty slim. Okay so we stop at a McDonalds to eat lunch, and they're doing that whole Monopoly thing, and Christian always gets way to into these things cause he thinks he might actually win something. Well we finish eating and Christian's dad is trying to fix a break light on the van so we had some free time. Well we ended up searching the entire perimeter of McD's for discarded trash that still had the little game pieces on them. We were surprised haow many we found. So we get to... I really don't know where we were except for the fact that it was near Niceville and an hour away from Pensacola. I never actually went to Pensacola. Me and Christian never went to any of the games. So we just sat around the house until the next afternoon. Mallory's team didn't win either of the first two games so they didn't end up playing the last one. This was great news for Me and Christian cause now we got to go to Destin. Mr. Don took us skimboarding and Mallory and Ms. Tammy went shopping. We skimboarded for almost two hours before winding up at the outlet mall too. Then we headed home (Christian made us stop at McDonalds for dinner) and got home around 7:45. So I'm wiped. It won't be too long before I wind up in bed.

Goodnight,
Brandon

p.s. Did I mention that the only person to greet me when I got home was Sammy, and he's not even a person. I'm gettin' the felling my family didn't miss me : (

More Like Tepid Codez

Hey all my peeps out there. I really don't have much to talk about so if I'm being at all boring feel free to find something more worth while to do. It has been a ridiculously long time since my last post. And so my thought process went something like this: Man my IM friends are losers they all have their away messages on. I really hate those things. Now what do I do. Hey! You know what? I haven't blogged in a ridiculously long time. I think I'll do that. So that's what I'm doing.
Allow me to start by saying that high school is totally way cooler than middle school even attempted to be, and if I ever once thought that I was cool 'cause I was in middle school, I'm am now publicly denouncing all (if (and probably) any) of it. But I feel that it is not necessary to explain the details of its utter awesomeness because I'm fairly sure that a very high majority of the people reading this have already experienced it (though I'm also fairly sure that a lot of you guys have already moved on and are currently chuckling at my naivete).
So yeah, Leon rocks (and the controversy flies. I don't wanna hear it.) But school is already beginning to fade into pointless routine, and my schedule is as hectic as ever. It's going to take all the effort I have to get it under control, but new factors are always presenting themselves and I'm starting to feel the pressure. And having a one track mind (that, coincidently, is usually not focusing on what it is supposed to be) doesn't help a lick. But I'm really trying and I know God is really gonna help me, but my problem so far, is letting him. It's not that I'm trying to do it on my own, it's that I give up hope too easily, and don't really put my whole heart into fixing the bad habits that have been controlling my life for the last few years. But I realize now how much it's really gonna take to do that, and I am finally beginning to sacrifice some of the things that are standing in my way (unfortunately, one of those things lately, has been a nap).
Anyway. Like I said things have been going pretty good. I'm extremely happy that FSU beat Miami Monday, and that I get to go to tomorrow's game. But here's a question for ya. Who the heck is Citadel? I don't really care though.
Oh yeah. I've been reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It's really funny, but really weird. I heard the movie was pretty dumb. But if you like random humor, I highly suggest the book.
Well that's all I really feel like talking about. So I'm gonna go. Talk to all you cats later.

Brandon

p.s. Me llamo el queso grande

Procrastinating... Still

I'm stalling right now because I'm supposed to be do my summer math stuff which is due monday morning, but its making my brain hurt and I'd really rather be doing something else. But I guess I gotta get used to doing work again. I'm really trying to kill my old habits of procrastinating, but I had just about mastered them by the time I decided to fix problem so it hasn't been the easiest task to accomplish.
Anyway. On Friday I had to wake up early and go to orientation at good old Leon High, which actually got me pretty excited about starting school, but then I got home and laid down in my bed and began lamenting over the fact that I'd be losing some valuable relaxation time and my new-found excitement was quickly forgotten. But I guess once I get back in the swing of things it won't be that bad.
Then today we went school shopping. I already had a sufficient amount of clothes so I expected to just get the rest of the supplies I needed, but I ended up getting two new pairs of shorts and two new shirts. Jenna convinced me to get a pair of plaid shorts that I was sceptical about buying at first, but they're growing on me. So today was really fun, but tomorrow is the last day of summer. And its Sunday so I'll be doing stuff, so today was my last day to relax and not worry about stuff (except for the math that I'm supposed to be doing). So I should probably go now.

Brandon

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://brandonmyrick.blogspot.com/2005/08/procrastinating-still.html' title='Procrastinating... It's crazy how much stuff you can cram in the last two weeks of summer (unfortunately it is all coming to an end very, and altogether way too soon). On Friday night a bunch of us peoples went to Kenley's house to hang out. His house isn't very big at all and we had like twenty people there, but it was a lot of fun. Then Saturday, basically the same group of us as the night before went tubing on the Ichetuhknee... Ichituckney... uh... Ichytucnee... Some river. It's supposed to take like two hours to get to the end from where we started, but me and Erin decided it would be fun to go really fast down the river and see how far ahead of our group we could get. It wasn't until we got to the end that we realized how stupid our little "fun idea" was, because we ended up waiting for like half an hour for everyone to finish. But it was still really fun. Then most people went back to Shannon's house. We swam, ate pizza, watched movies and hung out until like 10 and then went home. But that wasn't the end of my fun-filled summer antics. On Monday it was off to Laguna Beach for the youth leadership retreat. It was just a small group of leaders and a few selected youth who were noted in potential leadership positions (which is where I come in). The main purpose of the trip was to discuss the coming year of youth, but (and that's a pretty big but) we were also given a lot of time to enjoy the beach. I chose to fill that time mostly with skimboarding, which I got a lot better at.
On Tuesday, me and Christian hit the waves pretty early. We had been skimboarding for a while and we were getting kinda tired so we went swimming. We were on somewhat of a sand bar, but not really because it's like attached to the shore, but what I'm basically trying to say is that you can go a little further out without the water getting deep, but we still weren't very far out and the water was barely past our waists. So anyway, with that said let me continue my story, we were just standing there talking when Christian says "uh, Brandon what's that?" I looked to where he was pointing and about 15 feet in front of there was something big and black swimming past us. It was about four feet long and a falling wave revealed some of its unmistakable features. We both froze realizing what it was. Yep, you guessed it, it was a shark. It kept its distance as it swam past us, but that didn't stop us from running like a couple sissies back to shore. It was freaky. I understand it wanted as little to do with me and Christian as we wanted to do with it, but that little incident definitely kept me a lot closer to shore for the remainder of the trip.
So we got home today around 3. And that basically ends my summer, which, by the way, was totally awesome. Last summer was a lot more uneventful which can most definitely prove to be quite boring, so I was quite satisfied with this fun-filled, yet relaxing vacation. I have to finish up summer reading stuff this weekend and catch up on my sleep a little. And then its off to (dare I say it?) school. Well I better go.

talk to ya later,
Brandon

I Love Student Life Camp

Wow! I just got back from Student Life Camp last night. It was totally awesome. I would love to share about everything that happened, but an entry that long would take days to type. But basically, I can without a doubt say that it was the best week of my life. It was so much fun, and it was a great week of drawing closer to God. He has shown me so much, about him, about what I was missing, and needs I had in my life. And it was so awesome to see people growing in God alongside of you. I went last year, but it simply can't compare to how totally, totally awesome this week was. I could talk for hours about it and it still wouldn't do it justice for those of you who weren't there. God was moving in so many people, in so many ways, and we can't always see that. But I would find it hard to believe that anyone there could not, at some point, feel God's presence. I had said earlier that I wanted God to surpass all my expectations for the week, and he did. I never imagined how much would happen through just that one week of camp, but it will be a week I will never forget.

Couch Potato Salad

Man, it does not feel like Friday. This week like flew by. Probably because I spent like three days at joshes house. I went over there on Tuesday, expecting to return home the next day, but I didn't go home until like 5 on Thursday. Tuesday night we watched one of the Pink Panther movies, it was really funny. Then Wednesday we did a lot of stuff, but the highlights were as follow: listening to a Jeff Foxworthy CD (it was extremely funny, we listened to it twice and I still laugh as hard as I did the first time), and watching X-men 2 (great movie, can't wait for the sequel in 2006). Then Thursday we had to get up a little earlier, that is if we wanted to go to breakfast and then go see a movie. So I dragged Josh out of bed and we got ready really fast and hopped in the car (almost literally because I found their pogo stick and took advantage of the little extra time I had while everyone was coming out of the house). We ate at this place called Bagel Bagel Cafe (whose appropriate slogan is "a place so nice, we named it twice"). Then we went to AMC and saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was hilarious, but at the same time really really weird (but then again, what do you expect coming from Tim Burton). So then Josh and I begged his mom to let us stay at the mall for a while and have my dad pick us up and take us back to my house until she could come get Josh. So after we worked that out we went to EB to see if they had the Fantastic 4 game (which they didn't) and then went to Barnes & Nobles and read comics. So that's really about it. Today's been kinda dull. I watched like six episodes of Jonny Quest. So yeah, talk to ya'll later.

Brandon

p.s. How's it going? I would guess things are kinda busy since no one's updated their blogs in a while. Well last night, I went to the mall with Christian, and we were eating our Chik-fil-a nuggets when we see Ms. Cheri. We said hi and then she asked us if we wanted to help out with this water day thing she was doing for the kids at church the next day. So this morning I got up at 9:40, which is good because I've been trying to get on a more regular sleep schedule than going to bed at 2 and waking up at 12. So after the water day thing I came home and did literally nothing for a few hours. Then I had to go to work. My mom picked me up and said that if I hurried I could go see Batman Begins with Chris, Christian, and other cool people. But apparently Batman is now one of there older movies because the theater we were in was like as big as a match box and there was like barely any seats. So we decided to get our money back and just walked around the mall. I don't know what it is about superhero movies, but recently, every time I've I tried to see one, something happens, and then I don't end up seeing it. Man today was pretty long. I'm going to try to get to sleep at a decent time. Later.

The Incredible Branman

Self-Realization

I tried posting this last night my internet was screwing up.

It's like 1 in the morning, and I was just in bed thinking. I'm sorta growing distant from people that I used to consider my best friends. They're just not there the way they used to be. And, I, being a person who despises change, felt like my life was caving in. But tonight I was like "this is stupid, I'm being way to pessimistic about this, I have a great life" but the more I thought about it the more I felt like there is a hole there, but I realized it's not about my friends or anything that's happening to me. I felt like I didn't know why I was living. That's because I haven't been living it for God. I've been given so many opportunities to get closer to God and I have continued to live the way I wanted to and stay in my comfort zone. Some people at my school say that I'm a big Jesus freak and they think that I'm so big in my faith, but if that's what they see then I've been wearing a mask, one that I believed in. I need to realize how much closer I can really get to God. I've gone on so many youth trips and played the camp game and talked about how productive the week was, when really I've been just barely inching toward to even realizing how far I still had to go. I don't talk to God and listen to what he has to say enough to be a "Jesus Freak". I need to build the relationship I have claimed to have for too long. I need to live for him and my life won't seem so bad.

My Day Was So Boring I Can't Even Think of a Good Title

Another boring day. Man, I need to go flippin' do something. I almost saw Fantastic 4 last night, but then my dad said no because there might still have been bad rain until like 12. The key word there is 'might', because it barely sprinkled after that. So today I basically just cleaned my room and went to work. Whoopdee-doo. Summer can be really boring if done correctly. It's days like these when I can't wait for camp. It's gonna be a totally boss week (a little retro slang there). I hope it doesn't rain there. Then again I don't want it to be really hot either (though I doubt that'll be a problem considering it's on top of a mountain). Well my attention span is running shallow. I'm sure that comes as no surprise to most of you. You stupid hurricane, you stopped us from going bowling. Why can't hurricanes terrorize some other state for once? (don't answer that.) Well anyway, I'm pretty bored now. I'm sure I could find something to do, but I'm in one of those moods where I'm to lazy to find a way to make myself not bored. So I think I'm gonna go eat something. Then maybe I'll go like... take another nap... or something... lazy... like that. I would go running, but guess what? It's flipping raining! My parents would probably like me to go clean my room or something. I'll see if I get around to it.

lazily yours,
Brandon

New Blog For Brandon

I just made a new blog. Not that I've really gone anywhere, but I've done a lot of stuff. I keep saying that I'm gonna do some work on my books and comics, but I haven't done much. I've done a good deal compared to what I could accomplish during the school year, but that's not saying much. I think I'll go work on something when I'm done on the computer. What I've mainly been working on is writing down all the ideas I already have so that I don't forget them and so that it'll be easier to look over them and start filling in some gaps. My problem is that I keep jumping around between my different projects and I'm not really staying focused on one thing long enough to get something done.
I'm also trying to start doing a quiet time this summer. I figure it will be a lot easier to start during the summer than starting while school's going. Then when school does start I'll already be used to doing it and won't be as tempted to go back to sleep instead. going to Student Life will help to.
Speaking of which I can't wait till camp, but it's still almost 3 weeks away. That's sort of a good thing, because it means there's still about half of summer left and I still have time to accomplish the things I want to get done. Oh yeah, I still have to do summer reading, too. Man, that just ruined my day. I still have stupid summer reading to do. Can't school just give us a break, no, they have to ruin our summer, our longest time away from school, by giving us stupid books to read that nobody has liked since it since they were written in like 1908. And there's that math thing I have to do too. We don't wanna hafta think during summer, so why do they make us. I think someone's out to get us. But they can't fool me. I'll put a stop to this tyranny. I mean there's gotta be some kind of child labor law that I could totally destroy them with in court. Man, I got some major research to do.

ttyl,
Brandon

p.s. Wait a minute. Research? That's a school thing too. This is a conspiracy!

VBS (Very Busy Sunday)

Hello, hello, hello. I just realized that I rarely blog on Sundays. But guess what? It's Sunday, and I'm blogging. I wanted to blog yesterday, but I had some "difficulties" getting on the computer. Yesterday was Jordan's birthday party. We went bowling and then went to momo's pizza. Most people find it surprising that I had never been to momo's before. It was really good. Then today after church we setup for VBS. I'm working in crafts like I have the last two years. I'm not very excited about waking up early tomorrow, but VBS is always fun. But I'm kinda ticked off, because the songs for this years theme are pretty much nonexistent so we're using songs from an older VBS with a similar theme. Now that's not what ticks me off, I really like the songs from that year, the problem is that I'm like never gonna here them. The last two years I've been on the praise team [which means I, and a group of other teenage workers, got up on stage and led the kids in that years song. Sound stupid and embarrassing? You bet. (Makes you wonder why I wanted to do it, now doesn't it?)]. But this year there letting a bunch of little kids do it so I don't even have a reason to be in the worship rally so I'll like never hear the songs and it's the first year I've really liked the songs since the year I sang them when I was in VBS when we originally did the theme there from (top that run-on, Ian). Well when we got done with VBS stuff Christian and Chris caught a ride home and brought back a skimboard and bathing suits. So we found an okay puddle and went skimboarding. But then I got board and went and played ultimate on the hill, leaving Christian, Chris, and David with one less person to hog the bored. My original intentions were to dry off while playing ultimate so that I wouldn't be soaking when I went inside, but the hill was muddy and the heat and humidity were enough to make a sloth sweat like a pig, so I was still pretty wet by the time we went inside for dinner. There is more I could talk about here, but it's all pretty boring and I need to go to bed. So I'm going to bed.

Brandon

p.s. Tricky fish! Oh well, I'm back...again. Happy June everybody. The last few times I've come off of an extended gap in entries I've tried my best to give you a summary of all that's happened since I last wrote. But write now I don't feel like straining my brain trying to think of stuff to right about. I have, however, been in a great mood lately, and I've been able to sum up the cause in just two words: IT'S SUMMER!!! It feels so good to be out of school. Unfortunately, as of now my summer isn't looking to eventful. But at least that gives me a lot of time to relax. I also have a great opportunity to get some stuff done on my comics and books. So it should be a good summer. I can't wait until Student Life Camp. By the way, who's going to S. L. Camp this year. Most of the people I've talked to aren't (which isn't many since I haven't asked a lot of people. So if your going let me know).
Well that's about it.

Brandon

My Head is in the Stars

I just got back from seeing Star Wars! It was totaly awesome! Out of episodes 1,2, and 3, this was the best by far. I spent all this morning cleaning just to go see it. It was pretty packed so it's a good thing we didn't have a large group. It was just me, Josh, and his dad. I'm so glad I got to see it when I did, I didn't see episode 2 until it got to movies 8.
Now normally I end my entries saying, "Well that's about all I have to say." But tonight it's more like, "That's all that happened today" because, like I said, all I did today was clean and see Star Wars. So...
That's all that happened today. I gotta go load the dishwasher.

Brandon

p.s. If you haven't noticed, Iv'e been getting back on a regular schedule of blogging every night. Hopefully I'll stay with it.

p.p.s. Wow, that was a short entry. Who cares, I saw Star Wars!

p.p.p.s. I had a good day today. First off, there weren't a lot of people in school because there was both a chorus field trip and an eighth grade honor role bowling trip (neither of which I attended). So most teachers weren't doing anything important in class because there were a lot of missing students. Then I went to work for my brother (he's on the chorus trip, it's an over nighter). I was almost done, and then all of a sudden Eevee, the farm cat, started flipping out over something. I looked over to see what she was doing and she was attacking a snake. I shooed her away and got a closer look at the snake. It was a rat snake, about 2 feet long. I caught it and held it for a little while, then walked back towards the woods and let it go. When I got home, Mom, Jenna, and my grandmother (she's staying with us for a couple weeks) had already gone to that dinner thing at Leon for Jen's graduation. So it was just me and Dad. He had recently bought the first season of Johnny Quest on DVD, so we watched the first few episodes and ate a thrown together dinner consisting of mainly corn pops and pretzels. Well its getting pretty late. I'm gonna catch some shut eye.

good night,
Brandon

Another Freaking Ceremony

What's up peoples? Having a great day. Well it was better. I'm having to go to yet another one of my sisters things for graduation. It's cool that they wanna do all this stuff to honor all the seniors, but must I be dragged to every flipping one of them. Well I can't exactly say every one of them. I don't have to go to the thing tomorrow (I don't even know what it is). So now I'm getting all irritable and I have a science report to do, and my mom is breathing down my back to make sure I don't slack off these last few days of school, and it all kinda ruined my day, cause it started out real well. When I got to Latin (we were late this morning) I found out I got a maxima cum laude on the national latin exam (a big test all the latin teachers make way to big a deal about) and I got this cool little silver metal for it. Then my friend lent me the 11th Series of Unfortunante Events book (which I finished before I got picked up from school (which means I read an entire 323 page book really fast)). Then in 6th period we had an ice cream party thing for all the students who...well actually I'm not sure what it was for, but I went and that's all I care I about. So it was a good day. But I gotta go now. Lots to do.

Brandon

The Best Week In a Long Time

Wow. Lots to talk about. Lemme start with Thursday. Leon's pop a capella group, Mane Event, had a concert, and I had the privilege to go watch it. The Melodears, which includes my sister opened, for them. They did great. But, man! Mane Event was awesome! I had never heard them before, and I must say, anyone who hasn't is greatly deprived. Then, Friday night was our eighth grade dance, it was a lot of fun. Afterwards I, along with a large group of friends, went to Steak and Shake. By the time I got home I was exhausted. The next day, which was Saturday, I had a piano recital. It went pretty well, and then my cousins Jordan and Kate slept over. Sunday went as usual. We started a new series called "That Crazy Little Thing Called Love", and we've once again come up with a way to largely involve our wonderful drama team by making it a late night talk show. The set is quite impressive. I'm sad that I couldn't get more involved in it, but things kept coming up and that kept me from attending any of our "meetings". For instance, last night I rotted away at a senior awards ceremony while the drama team launched roman candles at X-box wannabes. So that's about all I wanted to say (well really, that's about all I can think of).

See ya later alligators (wow, that was dumb),
Brandon

p.s. 7 days left of school! A week and a half. has it been that long? Sorry. I don't really remember a lot about last weekend, but I can sure tell you about this one. I was supposed to go to Wild Adventures this weekend with my friend Christian, and Switchfoot was gonna be there. Plus I've never been there. I was totally hyped, we'd been planning this since like February (maybe earlier). But then Wednesday night I find out that were not going. I can't really say why. The story we've been going with is that Christian got in trouble, which is basically what happened. I'm not mad at him though. Don't get me wrong, I'm ticked we didn't go, but I'm not mad at him. Anyway, what I did do Saturday was clean our house from top to bottom. My mom made us clean everything. I think the dust flying around got to her head. Now I understand that the house was pretty dirty, so she wanted us to clean it pretty good, but she made us swiffer the walls. Anyone else find that weird?
But not all of my week was bad news and allergy provoking. The rest was actually quite good. On Tuesday I went to The Junction at Todd's house. We basically just hung out and ate nachos. It doesn't get much better than that, right? The rest of the week flew by, which is never a problem.
Oh yeah. I just remembered what happened last weekend. My cousins slept over and we played video games all night. I mostly played Zelda: Ocarina of Time (best game ever created). I finally beat it after like three years (I played it off and on over that time).
So that's about it. Wow. That was my longest entry in a while.

Have a good week (since it'll probably be that long before I write again),
Brandon

The Entry I Couldn't Think of a Name For

Hi! It's been a week since my last post. I was trying not to wait that long, but as you can see that didn't happen. Well great news on the track meet. I ran the mile in 5:56.80. I still didn't place though, I came in 12th. Our last track meet is tonight at Lincoln. But now let me tell you about the awesome week I had. Thursday was one of those bore you to sleep sorta days. Then Friday was my brothers birthday. He had a sleep over and the next day they went to Wakulla Springs. Chris didn't want me there so I slept over at my friend Josh's house. We don't see each other that much so we had fun. Then, Saturday night, we went to Movies 8 and saw "Are We There Yet?" It was funny, but at the same time pretty dumb. Then my dad picked Josh and I up and he slept over at my house. The next morning at church we had a missions conference thingy, and they talked about all the mission trips our church does. A missionary that lives in Africa talked instead of Pastor john giving a sermon, and there was lots of cool music. The rest of the week has been pretty normal. Well that's about it. I'm really trying to get back to doing entries on a more regular basis. We'll see if that happens.

bu-bye,
Brandon

(I'm running outta ways to say goodbye.)

Does Anyone Wanna Trade Partners?

Hello Walls. This is most definitely the earliest I've ever done an entry, but that's cause I probably won't have time later tonight because we have our second track meet. I'm hoping to beat my previous time of 6:o5.
Well today was pretty ordinary. We're watching an old as dirt movie in Latin. It's called Spartacus and it was made in like '59. The acting is really corny. Then in science we were doing a lab that involved iodine. If you know anything about iodine you'll know it stains your hands and clothes a weird yellow color. I accidently got some on my hand and it stained immediately. It's almost off though. But then my lab partner accidently knocked over the bottle of iodine and it spilled all over the table and some papers (luckily nothing important). He cleaned it up pretty fast though, and I don't think my teacher even knew it happened...at first. He had the bottle wrapped up in some paper towels to dry it off and accidently knocked it over again. This time it got on the floor and didn't come off that easily, in fact it didn't even all come off. So this time he told our teacher, but I don't think she really cared (the floor was already filthy). After school my brother and I rode home on the bus with my friend Austin cause he's taking us to the meet. So that's where I am now. He's got a really nice house. And I'm running outta things to write. So I guess this is the end.

Brandon

p.s. Did I mention iodine is a poison? That's not very comforting to know when it's all over your hands.

Not Thursday, but an Incredible Simulation

I know, I know. It's not Thursday. Sorry. I haven't quite gotten back into the swing of things. I'll try to get back on a more regular schedule.
Well I guess I'll start off with the track meet Wednesday. Cobb did pretty good. I was in the 1600 (1 mile). I ran it in 6:05, one of my fastest miles. Unfortunately it wasn't quite fast enough to place. On Friday I got to say home because most of the eighth graders were on the eighth grade field trip to Atlanta. I was really bored though so it seemed kinda pointless. That night I went to Relay For Life at Chiles HS. My mom's work has a tent every year, and it's a lotta fun. I walked a total of 42 laps. Earlier on me and my brother were seeing who could get the farthest on the long jump; I was surprsed to see that my brother was doing a good deal better than me. He had practiced one day at track and seemed to have a rhythm down, but then later on when he was showing our mom and some others he tripped up and fell flat on his face in the sand. Not even he could help but laugh. There was entertainment all night and free food. We stayed all night and left at around 8:00 the next morning. The rest of the weekend was pretty normal. Nothing really happened today. I would have to try really hard to find something worth writing about. So I guess that's it. I'll try to write tomorrow, but I'm not promising anything this time.

uuuh...by,
Brandon

p.s. Oh yeah, I did draw a great picture of Gorilla-Guy today. It's my best yet.

p.p.s. It's been almost an entire month but I'm back. Can I get an amen!
Alrighty then, I'd love to tell you about everything that has happened since i last wrote, but I don't really remember it all. So here's what I got.
One thing I could never forget was seeing the CCS (Community Christian School) performance of Cinderella. My cousin was in it and had an awesome solo. Also, while I was there I discovered that there are a lot of hot girls at CCS. The ironic thing is that one of the hottest girls I saw was playing one of the ugly step-sisters. (I was thinking about filing a complaint). The unfair thing is that my cousin has known her since kindergarten (I still complain about that.)
Then there was spring break. It had its ups and downs. The downest down was the death of my grandfather and his funeral. But I had some ups too, like the Jars of Clay concert, and sleeping in my van (long story, don't ask).
I also watched a lot of movies. Catch Me if You Can, The Pacifier, and we watched The Incredibles like three times. I think I watched some other movies too, but I can't really remember (surprise, surprise).
Oh yeah. I wrote some more of my book. I think I'm on page 11 now. Wow, I can't believe I almost forgot that. I also did some work on gorilla-guy. I love how it's turning out. The more I write the better and better it gets. I'm trying to put some of my drawings on my blog. I drew an awesome one of gorilla-guy with all the features of his costume and equipment labled.
Well that's about all I wanted to say. I promise it won't be another month before my next entry. In fact I promise another one on Thursday (I probably won't have time tomorrow, we have our first track meet).

be back soon,
Brandon

p.s. Happy Birthday Calyn!!!

p.p.s. It's been a whole week since I last wrote an entry. Sorry. I've been busy (and tired). Well let me sum up the last few days.
Wednesday, and Thursday, not very exciting. But on Friday I went to Pensacola with my youth group for the Student Life Conference. It was the first youth trip my entire family went on (my parents came as chaperones). It was a blast. The speaker for the weekend was David Nasser, and he was hilarious! I hadn't laughed so hard in a while. The bus rides were also fun. On the way there my mom French braided my hair, and on the way back, me, my brother Chris, and our friend Christian let some of the girls put makeup on us. It's hard to describe, but we looked sorta like glam meets goth, on a guy (and you thought John Kerry looked funny). We got back on Saturday night, tired. Sunday was normal. Today and Yesterday were our last days of FCAT testing. Woo hoo! So, excluding the weekend, the last week has been just a regular old week. And, you guessed it, I haven't done any comic work, but if I decide to do anything in the next few days it will probably be writing more of The Shadow Perfect. Well I gotta go study for a test.

see ya,
Brandon

The Good, the Bad, and the Just Plain Weird

When I started this blog, it was originally gonna be mostly to share all my weird ideas. I haven't had a lot of time lately to think up any weird ideas. Therefore, my blog has mostly been a journal. I don't really have a problem with that, but I decided that today I was going to go through all my old ideas, and then write about them. I'm going to tell you now that most of these ideas are pretty dumb, so feel free to laugh at any time.

Comics
I have been making comics for a long time (about since I was in first grade). I've had lots of ideas, but I am only going to mention the more "interesting" ones.

The Blockheads
If this hadn't been my very first comic I would not have mentioned it, but it was, so I will. As the name suggests, the heroes were made out of blocks. There were four of them (it was one of those team things). There names were: Mr. Blockhead, Mrs. Blockhead, Helmethead, and then there was this spider thing, but I can't remember his name. The bad guys were called Noids, and they looked kinda like starfish. I only made one actual comic. Unfortunately, I don't know where it is. I later made just strips of The Blockheads, but I made them without the original comic, so the pictures were a little different. I have absolutely no memory of the original by now, and I discontinued the series years ago.

Ah Incorporated
This was my second comic, but unlike The Blockheads, it is well worth noting. It was about a group of monsters who ran a newspaper company. It was then my drawing talent started to stand out, and the punch lines were relatively funny. I made a few of these, but I lost track of them too. All I still have is a few strips. Over all it was a pretty good start to the of world of comics, and I still draw them from time to time (adding new touches as my skill improves).

A-Squad
The name of this comic is completely irrelevant except for the fact that it was a "squad" of heroes. They were a bunch of little creatures who fought these big monster things. And there were a lot of them. I don't still have all the comic strips and pictures I drew, so I can't tell you all of them, but some of their names were: Wormer, Sheldon, Bubblipillar, Q-T, Flamey, Tundra, Dewy, Miner, Octon, Gekoler, Manty, and I.C.U. I'm sure there were at least 5 more, but I can't remember them. I made most of them up in fourth grade, but I drew pictures of them for a good while. I made very few actual comics, but this is what really got me into making them.

Power Pooch
This was another comic I did in fourth grade. It had the potential to go somewhere, but I lost interest before it did. It was basically a dog who turned into a super dog, and fought robotic cats. The drawings were once again pretty good for my age, but other than that, it's not something I'm real proud of.

Pokemon
Yes, pokemon. Me and my friend Josh made a Pokemon comic. The only reason I have it in here is because it was the only one of me and Josh's comics that we actually made. Me and Josh made up many comic ideas, but this one was the only one we actually made. The series was discontinued because we realized we couldn't sell them (which was our original plan) because of copyright laws.

Transformers
I had an obsession with Transformers from age 6 until about the end of elementary school. So me and Josh tried making a comic about transformers. It didn't get very far at all. The reason I'm putting it in here is because it was the original inspiration for my comic World War Robots. Not all of the robots in WWR transform, but I am using some of the ideas me and Josh were going to use in this.

Super Baby
Another failure me and Josh thought up. Super Baby was a baby version of Superman. Enough said. Though I did like this one. We had great ideas, and it got farther than most, but the pictures were lousy for being in fifth grade.

Harry Banana
This was making fun of Harry Potter. Don't get me wrong, I like Harry Potter, but this was fun to do. I started it last year in seventh grade and it barely got it's feet of the ground before I just randomly stopped. It was pretty funny, and the pictures were great (but that's because it was last year).

Arena Pets
I hate to compare it to pokemon, but that's the easiest way to explain it, fighting monsters. Though most people agree with me that it's much better than pokemon. I started it last year, and haven't done much recently, but my plan is to get a copyright on it and then produce it with some company in ten to fifteen years. That way the whole monster fighting craze going on now with little kids will be over, and Arena Pets will bring it back. I mean the only reason pokemon was so popular was because it was the first of it's kind, so if Arena Pets is the first to bring back the craze, it should do pretty well.

The Fickle Pickle
This was also started last year. The basics? He's a superhero pickle who can't decide how to beat his enemy. Probably the funniest comic I've made. I love it

Springdale
The first comic I made to be a strip and only a strip. It hasn't gotten very far since I started it this year, but I love where it's going.

Books
I haven't had many book ideas, but here are the two good ones I haven't mentioned on my blog.

The Emerald Ring
I'm planning it to be a series of five books. It's a classic medieval fantasy story. I have thought up a big part of the plots of the stories, but I'm refraining from writing them because I haven't quite finished working out the advanced story line I've created.

Hawaii
It was going to be a humorous short story about a mans trip to Hawaii in the form of journal entries. I didn't get far and eventually dropped the idea. Though, what I had was quite humorous.

Other Ideas
I had some other weird ideas I thought I might put into it's own section.

Animal of the day
A while, back I was going to give every day an animal. So there would be like a moose day, a badger day, a platypus day, etc. But it was to hard to think up an animal that was relevant to each day, plus I kept forgetting.

Flash Animation
This idea I am still really trying to pull off. I want to learn to make cartoons using flash animation. I could turn my comics into movies! I just need someone to teach me. Maybe it'll happen one of these days.

Well now I hafta wrap it up and call it a night. I hope you enjoyed reading about the history of my kooky ideas. Hopefully I will never be short of them, with my active imagination I can't see that being a problem

farewell,
Brandon

A Brain Draining, Leg Straining, Tired of Raining, Shirt Staining Day

Okay, it's pretty late so I hafta be brief.
Today we had FCAT testing, which isn't that hard, but it can be sorta stressful. And no one really likes tests in the first place. After school we had track practice. I am majorly outta shape. My legs are aching like crazy. They're practically screaming for mercy. Then, to make matters worse, I had to go to work. May I remind you that I bike there and back, that definitely didn't help my leg situation. And I'm sure I've mentioned the fact that rain makes my job difficult, and yesterday it poured, so today everything was wet. Uuugh! Then my sister and I went to the church with Calyn and painted some stuff for the big drama coming up. I purposely wore an old shirt because I knew I would get paint on it, and I did. Then I did my homework and came to write this. It sounds like a really bad day, but I was actually in a pretty good mood (considering the circumstances), and the whole painting thing was fun. Now I hafta go to sleep, we have more FCAT tests tomorrow.

good night,
Brandon

When Cats Attack

Today was Sunday.
How come there isn't a Moonday. I mean, if the sun can have it's own day I think the moon should have a day too. I guess it's because it looks too much like Monday.
Anyway today was pretty good (I've found I say that about most days). I about fell asleep in sunday school, but I resisted the temptation. While eating lunch, my sister and I we're trying to think of a new name for our drama team. Our old drama leader left, and the vote to change our name was anonymous. We are now called "The Tree". Tree stands for: truth, relevance, explanation, and encouragement. It's cool because the cross is sometimes called the tree, so it works out great. Then I went to youth, that's always fun, and Todd, our youth pastor, finished up his sermon series on consequences. Just a few minutes ago I was playing with my cat Sam, and I got him in one of his "let's attack people" moods. Well then a commercial with monkeys came on, and being me I had to watch. While I was temporarily distracted, my cat took the opportunity to strike. He lunged at my head and scored a hit to my right temple. No damage was done, in fact it was actually quite funny. So he might have won the battle, but he hasn't won the war.
Unfortunately, I have done absolutely nothing on any comic whatsoever today. Oh well, I'll do some stuff tomorrow. Now, I need to get some sleep, cause tomorrow we have... dare I say it... FCAT.

running outta ways to say good-bye,
Brandon

p.s. I just added the first poll question to my blog today. Scroll down the side panel and check it out.

One of Those "Two for One" Deals

I didn't get to do an entry yesterday, and I really wanted to. So today I'm summarizing both yesterday and today. It's like one of those "two for one" deals.
Friday: It started out like any old day (that means I was bored to the bone and on the verge of falling asleep). But after school I was in a surprisingly good mood. Wednesday through Friday we take my friend Christian home, so we dropped him off as usual. As we were pulling away my brother, Chris, realized Christian had forgotten his cell phone and yelled "wait!" My dad hit the brakes and my brother, who had not yet buckled his seat belt after moving over to where Christian was, flies forward and hits his face on the seat in front of him. Me and my dad die laughing. It was hilarious. Even Chris was laughing. My sister was looking forward and didn't see it happen, but she was soon laughing too, after we told her what happened. The other highlight of the day was watching some old home videos. We spent all night reminiscing (and laughing at ourselves).
Saturday: I got to sleep in. Woo hoo! Then I had to clean. Not so woo hoo. Then I went work, and got paid for the first time in like two weeks. We made my parents dinner as like an appreciation sorta thing, but we got a late start and didn't eat until 9. Then we watched more home videos. We watched one of my first birthday. I was given my very first cake. At first I wasn't quite sure if I should eat it. But once I tried it I literally stuffed the whole thing in my face, and surprisingly most of it went in my mouth. It was great remembering all that great stuff. Those were the days.
Oh yea! I started the Gorilla Guy rough draft today. I didn't get very far, but the comic is in production nonetheless. I'm gonna work on it some more as soon as I have a chance.
So there you have it, two whole days in one entry. That's a major workout for your hands. Well I'm really tired and I have church tomorrow. So I must adjourn to my bedroom and get some beauty sleep (not like I need it).

adidas,
Brandon :)

Just When You Thought My Blog Couldn't Get Weirder...

Today is Thursday (well it probably isn't now, but it was when I typed this).
A friend of mine recently said my entries were getting boring, so I really want to be able to say something really funny or cool happened today, but I can't. The only out of the ordinary thing that happened was that after piano lessons me, my sister, and our friends Calyn and Diane worked on building a set for an upcoming drama were doing in youth. That was pretty fun. Other than that, it was just a regular Thursday. I won't bore you with any crap from school. I'll just go straight to the comic book updates.

All I really did today was re-draw a Gorilla Guy character who was in a serious need of a makeover. He looks a lot better now. I was really planning on starting that rough draft, but working on the set took up a lot of time. But tomorrow's a new day, and a new chance to accomplish something (Is it just me, or was that really corny). Well I'm wiped. I'm gonna hit the hay.

Vale,
Brandon

p.s. I don't normally do a p.s. so I figured I would write something just for the heck of it, I don't really have anything to say. So if you were expecting a well thought out afternote, or some helpful words for thought, I am sorry to have disappointed you.

Bobby, Tim, and No Name

Today was pretty good.
School didn't have it's regular tedious and tiring feel (I'm very thankful for that), but once again, not very exciting. We played around with this cool chemistry computer program in science. We got to blow up computer animated bottles by mixing computer animated elements and then burning them with computer animated bunsen burners. We had a quiz in Latin that I didn't even know about until I got to class, but we reviewed right before and I'm sure I aced it. Like I said, not very exciting (though that's not a big surprise coming from school). I went to work pretty late because the Indian Childrens Choir is singing at our church tomorrow. I know that sounds completely irrelevent, but let me explain. We're housing two of the chaperones and I had to clean my room and make stuff look good fo their arrival. Their names are Tim and Bobby. They're pretty cool. I kinda wanted to house at least one of the kids actually in the choir, but I'm not complaining.

Today I re-drew the monster character I drew on Friday (with a few improvements), but he still needs a name. Gorilla Guy can't go around fighting anonymous bad-guys. I haven't started that rough draft yet, but I'm going to start asap. Though, right now I hafta finish my homework.

with sincerest gratitude to all my loyal fans,
Brandon

Give My Thanks to the Presidents

No School today!
It's President's Day, so we had a three day weekend. Woo-hoo!
Last night my sister's friend slept over and we all watched The Village. It was a pretty good movie. The ending coulda been better, but overall, I liked it. Today I basically just sat around watching tv. Not very exciting, but it's better than school. I did work today, so I wasn't a total couch potato. I really don't feel like going to school tomorrow, but then again, when do I ever feel like going to school.

I'm planning on starting a rough draft of the first Gorilla Guy comic, but of course I also said that on Thursday about writing more of my book, and guess how much of that I got done. Though I really do wanna see something get going. All of my ideas are conceived, and I may do a little on them, but I haven't stuck with one thing and stayed with it until the end. Well, I gotta go do homework. I hope I get some time to start that rough draft.

Later,
the man with a plan,
Brandon

The Cowboy and the Beast

Today was awesome!
Last night my friend Josh slept over. I hadn't seen him in a while so that was cool. Then today our church had this thing called Cowboy Up (It's sorta become an annual thing). There was live entertainment, a chili cook-off, mechanical bull, bounce houses, a rodeo demonstration, food (of course), and it was great fun. Last year I couldn't do anything because I had a broken collar bone, so in my opinion, this year was much better than last.
I'm sorta backtracking now, but on Thursday me and my friend Christian randomly decided we were going to start a club called The Narcoleptic Monkeys. Our motto is "simius obdormit". Which is Latin for "the monkey falls asleep". We currently have 3 members: me, Christian, and an eighteen spotted ladybug named Billy Joe. Unfortunately, we have no clue where Billy Joe is. We brought him in my house, and he was just sitting on Christian, being a good boy, and the next thing we know, he's gone. So he either got squished, made it outside, or my cat found him first and ate him. So technically, we only have two members.

On Friday I did some work on my comic Gorilla Guy. I don't think I've mentioned it on my blog before, but I have some great ideas. I didn't do much on it, I drew up a new bad guy (who is currently nameless), and worked on tying him into the story. He's sorta like a big...beast...thing. I drew him on the inside of a folder though, so he needs to be trasferred to paper. Well, my attention span is running thin, I'm gonna go watch tv.

adios,

Brandon

Avis In Igne Est

Today was a Thursday.
Thursdays are generally good days for me. It's near the end of the week and I don't have to work. I have piano on Thursdays, which, being only half an hour, doesn't usually bother me, as far as free time goes. I got some new piano books that (praise the Lord) aren't filled with childish music. Today in school, my second period teacher was absent once again and won't be there tomorrow! That makes an entire week. Half of me is saying "I hope she's ok". The other, predominate half is saying "Yes! Subs for a week!" There was an assembly today in 3rd period, but Ms. Carlile wouldn't let us go because she's all spazing out over getting this F-CAT practice stuff done. The rest of the day was pretty normal.

No big updates on any stuff I'm doing with my comics. Sorry. But I do plan on getting some stuff done on my book The Shadow of Perfect. I really wanna finish that asap. Oh yea, I have been making some adjustments on an old book idea, but I don't plan on getting real serious about writing it for a good while. I'm mainly focusing on TSOP.

TTFN,
Brandon

p.s. I can barely remember school, so it had to be pretty uneventful. I do remember that I had 3 substitutes today. One in science, another in homeroom, and another one in language arts. Plus, my chorus teacher was doing stuff for student government, so her intern did class. After school I moaned in despair as I remembered I had work today. But thankfully, it went by really fast. I came home, ate dinner, and went to sleep. My brother woke me up at 8:20, like I told him to, so I could write this and get ready for school tomorrow. Talk about a boring day. Your probably falling asleep reading this, I know I'd be cutting come serious Z's by now.

Oh yea. I got some work done on that comic. It has a name now. I call it World War Robots. Let me explain the basics. A nuclear war starts and it turns into World War 3. During this time period, technology continues to advance and eventually robots are brought into the war, as soldiers. After a few wars the earth becomes a desolate nuclear wasteland and humans are forced to leave. They leave their world to the robots who, only knowing how to fight, continue the war. WWR is about their story. This is still a work in progress, but I have some great ideas. I really hope it ends up being good, instead of in my trash can. My brother'll be kicking me outta his room soon, so I better call it a night.

The Hottie Formerly Known as Brandon

Valentines Day

Today was Valentines Day.
It started out pretty crappy. I was dead tired. And it was all rainy outside. I mean here it's Valentines Day, and outside the weather's all like doom and gloom. But then the rain cleared and I got all hyped up on sugar, and the day turned out pretty good. I had to work though, and rain makes scooping horse poop difficult. Yes, for all of you who didn't already know, my job is scooping horse poop. Not a very attractive job, I'll admit, but for five bucks an hour, I'm not complaining.

For a while now I've been making up ideas for comic books I'd like to write/draw (none that would be anywhere near 1332 pages, that's gotta be tiring on the hand). I wanted to do some work on one of them today, but once again, that ever-present Houdini we like to call time has escaped me (I need some better hand cuffs). The one I was trying to work on is the one I have done the least on (It doesn't even have a name yet), that's pretty much the reason I was trying to work on it, but I didn't get to it, and now I'm sorta rambling pointlessly, and this is most definitely a run-on sentence, therefore I am going to shut up now and let you continue your daily routine completely devoid of time consuming squabble. Thank you and goodbye.

Brandon

Welcome to The Elk Islands

This is my first blog entry and I'm really hyped. Ok, here it goes...

Last night I got bored and decided to make up my own archipelago (for all of you who just said "huh?" an archipelago is a chain of small islands in the sea). I call it The Elk Islands. I named each of the major islands after a type of deer (there are smaller islands that belong to the major ones). The seven major islands are: Caribou, Sambar, Sika, Chital, Roe, Muntjac, and Pudu (the only one of the smaller islands I gave a name is called Argali, which is actually a relative of cattle). I originally drew the map on a sticky note, but I plan to put it on a bigger piece of paper. Kinda weird I'll admit, but thats what happens when it's 11:00 at night and you can't sleep.

Today was progress report day. I got 3 A's, 2 B's, and 1 C. It was kinda a boring day. Probably because I had nothing I was doing. I'm not currently reading a book or anything, it was just... school. Speaking of which I just finished a really long comic book called Bone. It was really good, but it was also 1332 pages long.
Though being me it only took me 2 days to read. it was a great book, I highly suggest it to any fans of Pogo and Calvin and Hobbes.

Well thats about it.

Later,
Brandon
